Bowls SA Announces $0 Affiliation Fee For Under 18 Bowlers
In line with the Bowls SA Junior Development Strategy 2024-2028, bowlers under the age of 18 years will have the opportunity to experience cheaper memberships due to the removal of the Bowls SA affiliation component, effective immediately.
Junior development and participation are focus areas of the organisation. We encourage juniors to utilise this opportunity to experience bowls, which will stimulate peer engagement and facilitate avenues for young players to compete with similar minded peers regardless of skill level.
A clear pathway and other opportunities for new bowlers need to be created to bridge the gap to the State Under 18 Championships. The introduction of the Inter-School challenge and Future Stars Tournaments will assist in the process.
To ensure the sustainability of lawn bowls in South Australia, empowering member clubs to engage more individuals in various ways on a more frequent basis is crucial. The primary goal is to enhance junior involvement and cultivate positive experiences for young participants in lawn bowls through the following objectives outlined in the Bowls SA Junior Development Strategy 2024-2028.
Junior – Participation
- Create, develop and implement junior development squads to South Australia by 2025
- Host at least three specific junior tournaments per year until 2028
- Facilitate an interschool challenge every year with 30 schools attending by 2028
- 100 juniors participating in the Under 18 State Championships by 2028
- Assist clubs by providing resources to gain interest from schools/juniors to participate in a form of lawn bowls by 2026
Junior – Schools
- Introduction of a Teacher Ambassador Program with over twenty teachers registered by 2028
- Introduction of a lawn bowls program associated with curriculum
Junior High Performance
- Implementation of a gold and silver squad within the Under 18 Squad by 2024
- Introduction of a third Under 18 coach to focus on the development of the silver squad by 2025
- Increase the medals achieved at ‘The Nationals” to 50% of the South Australia team earning at least one by 2028
- Facilitate a School Sport SA team to compete in the School Sports Australia Bowls Championship by 2025
Junior – Marketing/Communication
- Increase engagement on collateral that has a focus on juniors
- Increase reach on collateral that has a focus on juniors
