Klose and Treloar do it Again
Holdfast Bay’s Ashley Klose and Berri’s Kerry Treloar today claimed the State Mixed Pairs title for the second time in three seasons.
Klose and Treloar defeated K. Pearson/C. Pearson and K. Lynch/J. Lynch in the final 16 and final 8 respectively on Sunday, before they scored a 17-shot win over R. Walton/Y. Bekeris in the semi finals.
They met Tina and Nathan Black, of Gladstone and Grange respectively, in the final, after the mother/son pair won through games against R. Burdett/J. Porker in the round of 16, C. Gamble/C. Karantonis in the final 8, and then defeating K. Miller/P. Matthews by 11 shots in the semi finals.
The final was a closely fought battle, with neither side able to establish any sort of lead until late in the contest.
Klose and Treloar set the pace early, before Nathan and Tina worked their way back into the contest.
Klose and Treloar, who won the event in 2019/20, were able to wrestle back the ascendancy, forcing Nathan Black to kill multiple ends towards the latter stages of the contest.
Nathan and Tina were able to take the match to the final end, but requiring 8 shots on the last end, they were unable to force an extra end, seeing Klose and Treloar clinch a memorable victory.
This success follows on from Treloar’s recent Women’s State Pairs title.
