2024-25 Country Round Robin Champions

by Marketing on February 14, 2025

The eight country regions spreading across all corners of the beautiful South Australia congregated on Tuesday at the Marion and Lockleys Bowling Club for the Men’s and Women’s Country Round Robin, respectively. All the action continued throughout the week, concluding with an exciting finish on Friday.

At Marion, the Men’s champion was decided on Thursday afternoon. Region 3 Upper Northern started off their campaign with a draw against Region 2 Yorke Peninsula. Having no mercy after this incident, they powered on and won every game for the rest of the competition, resulting in them 21 points up after round 6, placing both hands on the trophy.

The Men’s best performed rink was Region 3 Upper Northern’s lead Pat Vella,  second Scott Brand, third Neville Leue and skip Brett Murdock with 6 wins and plus 45 shots.

In the Women’s competition, it came down to the pointy end to determine the winner. In round 7, the Fleurieu & KI had one hand on the trophy, entering the round 16 points ahead of Region 5, which just so happened to be the team they were versing. The tension was high with Region 5 needing all rinks up to keep their campaign alive and take the competition to an individual win count back. Region 7 held strong to win with 3 rinks up, 75-64 and stake their claim to fame for the third time in six years.
